About this product

The AlphaBNWAS NMEA activation unit is an extra input device for the BNWAS system and has two functions available:

When an Autopilot is used but this device misses an “autopilot engaged” output for BNWAS, this device can save expensive modifications to the autopilot itself.
The interface will read out the NMEA data and a relay contact will be activated when “autopilot engaged” is detected. The relay contact is connected to the BNWAS auto input and will set the standby mode when the autopilot is engaged and deactivated when switched over to manual steering.

It is also possible to connect the interface with a GPS. In this case, the BNWAS standby mode will become active when a vessel is going faster than 3 knots or for USA-inland mode 0.5 knots. The AlphaBNWAS activation unit receives the NMEA data which holds the speed over ground (SOG) sentence and will close the relays above the set speed.
To use this feature the AlphaBNWAS main unit must be set in “Auto”-mode for the NMEA activation unit to take effect.

Advantages:

  • Saves expensive modifications
  • Adds “Autopilot engaged” output
  • Adds Speed activation
  • DIN rail mount
