EORI number
EORI number Obligation for T1 Shipments within the EU
Please be advised that the rules about the use of the EORI number will be enforced more strictly by customs offices throughout the whole European Union from the 1st of April 2017. In case you are not familiar with the EORI number, the EORI number is a unique identification number which companies should use when they exchange data with customs offices in all member states of the European Union. The number consists of the country code of the country where the consignee is located followed by a unique code or number of the member state. For example, Alphatron’s EORI number is NL009882789.
What does this practically mean? It means that we are obliged to mention the EORI number of the consignee in our customs invoice for T1 shipments only! When we ship T1 goods within the European Union. The EORI number will be part of the application for a T1 document. Without the EORI number, it will not be possible anymore to issue T1 documents and your shipments will be delayed until we receive the EORI number of the consignee.
Therefore you are kindly requested to mention the EORI number of the consignee in your delivery instructions for T1 goods. If you, in case the T1 shipment goes to you within the European Union, or the appointed agent within the European Union does not have a EORI number, you can apply for one at your local tax authorities. Please check your local customs for detailed information on how to obtain this number.
Please note that it is not needed when we customs clear the goods here and send them in free circulation to the consignee. In this case the goods will be cleared on Alphatron Marine’s EORI number.
We hope the above is clear, if not, or if you have any further questions or remarks, please do not hesitate to contact our logistics department.
