Import duties
Import duties are charged when goods are imported prior to dispatch. This import clearance procedure can only be done for orders that are shipped to destinations within the European Union (EU).
The advantage to import goods prior to dispatch is a faster handling at the place of destination because there is no need to perform customs procedure anymore. This may be the difference between delivery on time or not; especially in case there is limited time available.
Every item has its own intrastat code. Intrastat codes are regulated by the European Community and are based on the integrated tariff used in the European Union (TARIC). Therefore import duties are a fixed percentage and cannot be discussed.
In case of expensive equipment JRC will always try to deliver the goods under T1 to avoid these import duties.
