Lithium batteries pail can and hazard fee
As of 1 November 2011 we have new working procedures for shipments of lithium batteries. Due to new regulations, implemented by IATA, ITG, our warehouse partner, will no longer handle the packing of the batteries in case the batteries are transported via air, sea and some forms of road transport.
The rules became more strict and ITG, and most regular warehouse companies, can no longer comply with these new rules and regulations and looked for a third party who have the appropriate licenses to handle the packing of the batteries. In our case ITG will outsource this work to SGS, the dangerous goods organization who is already responsible for issuing the Dangerous Goods Certificate for our shipments. Because of this we will no longer mention pail can cost on the Order Acknowledgement (OA), because the pail can will be included in the packing fee that SGS charges to us.
Besides this the hazard fee that we put on the order now is not always applicable and may vary per transport form. It only applies for air, sea and some forms of road transport as explained above. The amount for road transport is different from the standard fee that is charged for transport via airfreight and may vary upon destination.
Because of this, hazard fee and pail can cost will no longer be mentioned on the OA from 1 November 2011. The actual costs will be included in the freight charge amount for the shipment.
